The Japanese section of AISCGre was founded in Hiroshima in 1980 upon the initiative of Prof. Yoshio Mizushima (1930–2017). It has 78 members (as of January 2019).

The members meet bi-annually (last meeting in Hiroshima 2018). Latest research results are being published in the bulletin of the Japanese section グレゴリオ聖歌研究 (Studies of Gregorian Chant).
