Jun Nishiwaki did a Licenciate in Theology (S.T.L.) at Nanzan University, Japan in 1991 and a Doctorate in Theology (S.T.D) at the University of Trier, Deutschland in 2002.

In 2002 he became Lecturer at Nanzan University Faculty of Policy Studies, in 2004 he was appointed Associate Professor at Nanzan University, Faculty of Theology and since 2012 he is Professor at Nanzan University, Faculty of Theology.

Nishiwaki teaches at the St. Gregorius House Institute of Religious Music, Tokyo since 2018. Since 2021 he also is Professor for Intercultural Studies at Seinan Gakuin University, Fukuoka Japan. He is the author of various publications in the area of theology-liturgy-chant.

Since 2023, Nishiwaki serves as the president of the Japanese Section of AISCGre.
